Best Practices: Classroom Management and Environment
This workshop is designed to look at the day-to-day role of the classroom teacher as a manager. As a classroom teacher, teachers have been given the discretionary power to allocate tasks to students, direct their behavior, and evaluate their performance. Teachers will also learn about strategies, tools, and techniques that create a desirable teaching and learning environment.

Professionalism and Education: A Common Sense Approach 
This workshop will focus on what it means to look, interact and work like a professional. Participants will explore situations that might be encountered in the classroom, but may not have been presented in their formal teacher preparation program. This session will include numerous examples and scenarios to assist with making informed decisions about issues that occur in schools around professionalism. Participants will also learn about legal implications of certain aspects in the teaching profession and the choices they make when interacting with students, parents and colleagues.

I Can Do It — Classroom Management 
TEA is proud to bring this top-notch classroom management training to Tennessee. School administrators and the teachers’ association in San Bernardino, California, created “I Can Do It” to help new teachers successfully manage their classrooms. As new teachers enter the classroom they are faced with closing the achievement gap and the challenge of creating a learning environment in which all students can learn. The powerful interactive six hour session gives participants a wealth of practical ideas and strategies that can be immediately infused in their classrooms. Topics include:

Teacher Evaluation: Nuts and Bolts 
Nuts and Bolts is designed to provide an overview of the policies, laws and state department guidance that governs the Tennessee evaluation requirements. Participants will review the process, minimum requirements, and timelines for all licensure levels. They will have an opportunity to evaluate potential grievances as defined by the evaluation process. Each participant will receive a complete handbook of governing documents, an evaluation tracking form, and a professionalism evidence tracking form. The session includes information pertaining to all approved models including TEAM, TEM 3.0, Project COACH, and TIGER.

Best Practices: Thinking, Questioning and Problem Solving
In this workshop, teachers will learn best practices and strategies for engaging students in thinking, questioning, and problem solving. Teachers will learn about the different types of thinking and specific questioning techniques designed to improve their instruction.

Reaching the Struggling Learner
This is a workshop that provides research and evidence-based strategies that all teachers can use to help struggling students. The training will equip participants with an instructional toolkit that will help support all students in their classrooms. Some of the topics and tools include multiple intelligences, summarizing techniques, and graphic organizers.

Section 504 
This session will provide an overview of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, P.L. 93-112. The overview will include details about the law, requirements for school districts, qualifying requirements for students and the impact on grades and discipline procedures. Participants will gather a basic understanding of Section 504 and their responsibilities in implementing a 504 plan.

The Successful Substitute
This workshop provides basics for new substitutes. Participants will learn practical strategies from organizational skills to classroom management that will enable them to enter any classroom prepared for a successful experience.
