**2016 Dates and details to come! Please check back soon!**
Beginning in January 2016, the third annual TEA Road Trip will make numerous stops across the state to discuss with educators, parents and community members the important issues facing our local schools.
As professionals, we all agree on the overuse and misuse of standardized testing, the state’s lack of investment in students and the need to improve respect for the teaching profession and public schools. We also know that now is the time to engage our communities in our fight.
During last year’s Road Trip, we learned that parents and community members trust and respect our work. From Memphis to Mountain City, and everywhere in between teachers, education support professionals and administrators shared the challenges facing public education in Tennessee. Attendees applauded us for the results we are able to achieve with their children. It’s time to build on this success and grow the ranks of our community partners.
Just like last year, the TEA Road Trip will be open to the public, not just TEA members. Our staff and local members will share the facts behind many existing challenges in our schools, what we must do to address them, and most importantly why we need everyone’s help.
Please encourage everyone you know to take note of the schedule for the Road Trip closest to you and invite your colleagues, relatives and neighbors to attend the event with you.
All of our victories of the past couple of years have been achieved because local communities engaged with legislators on our issues and saw real change at the local level. That’s why we designed the TEA Road Trips to give all attendees the tools to become advocates for public education.
