is a unique offering from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards® that provides a standards‐based approach for improving teaching practice and links student learning to effective instruction. Through a grant written by Tennessee Education Association (TEA), certificated educators in Athens City, Bradley County, Cleveland City, and Hamilton County qualify for a National Board professional development opportunity called Take One! (TO!) for the 2009-10 academic year. Each of the four local education associations (AEA, BCEA, CEA, and HCEA) and school districts are working collaboratively to support the program.
TO! provides a standards-based approach to improving teaching practice and links student learning to effective instruction. Educators prepare and submit one pre-selected video portfolio entry from any of the current 25 certificate areas offered by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Educators must have access to a preK-12 classroom in order to complete the entry. An educator may later transfer the score if he/she pursues full National Board candidacy. Additional information is available at www.nbpts.org or 800.22TEACH. For all other questions, please contact the Instruction and Professional Development Division of TEA at 800.342.8367. |
