members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the General Assembly for terms of nine years, except for the student member. Students serve only one year. Currently, Dr. Gary Nixon serves as executive director of the board. Executive Director of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission Dr. Richard G. Rhoda serves as an ex- officio, nonvoting member.
