Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Association’s David Hooks, bus driver, says, “The job of driving a school bus is extremely challenging. Everyday is different and you never know what might happen. I value my membership and appreciate the information I receive from the Tennessee Education Association.” |
“So many ESP members don’t know how the Association lobbies for them and can keep them informed about so many things — like the No Child Left Behind law and its impact on ESP staff. I’m so glad I’ve become very involved in the Association. I’ve even been elected to the KEA Executive Board.”

“We education support professionals have a family — an association family — who cares about us and our future and is open to hear our concerns. Our local association, TEA, and NEA can do a lot for us, and numbers speak. We’re growing. We’re moving forward, and we need you! Join today!”

“I joined the Association so that I’d have a voice — a vote. I wanted to find out what was going on in the school system, but I’ve also found out that membership has a lot to offer — the benefits, insurance, discounts, and special services that really help stretch your money. And, of course, I like the protection.”

NEA began enrolling education support professional members in 1982 when most ESP members worked primarily as teacher aides and school secretaries. But things have changed. During the past few years, the Tennessee Education Association has expanded membership rights and opportunities for Tennessee’s ESPs in a big way!
Today, TEA/NEA proudly represents over 350,000 education support professionals who work as classroom assistants, grounds and building custodians, security officers, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, library and payroll clerks, health workers, machine operators, and more — from kindergarten through higher education.
As a growing part of TEA, ESP members’ responsibilities have grown, too. Along with fulfilling their daily job tasks, ESPs are powerful advocates for the entire education family and for the well-being of children everywhere. ESP members are on the front lines in every school district throughout the state, working hand in hand with teachers and administrators. Help make Tennessee an even better place to learn and grow. Join TEA/NEA today!
