TEA's Communications Division is responsible for representing the organization to the members and to the general public. The division produces:

  • teach, TEA's regular print publication for members, monthly except for July
  • www.teateachers.org, the association Web site
  • All news releases and media advisories
  • Radio and television advertisements
  • Special event materials for TEA's Tennessee Space Week, American Education Week, Read Across America and National Teacher Day and others as needed
  • Special video presentations
 

Our staff advises and assists the president, board of directors, local associations and other staff in public relations and communications activities.

 

Communications sponsors:

  • The statewide School Bell Awards program to recognize Tennessee media for outstanding work supporting public education
  • The Local Association Newsletter Contest to recognize excellence in the production of local newsletters and the newsletter exchange program
  • Tennessee Space Week in conjunction with the Tennessee Space Grant Consortium at Vanderbilt University and NASA
  • Training for local associations on various topics such as: newsletter production, media relations, organizing public relations programs, crisis communications, and message development and discipline
