The Tennessee Education Association’s Summer Leadership Academy (SLA) will be held June 9 – 11 at Embassy Suites in Franklin, TN. SLA will begin at 1:00 p.m. CST on June 9. This year’s theme is “Refresh, Renew, Refuel.” Registration closes May 13, 2022.
We are excited to announce that Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton and Dr. Derek Black, author of School House Burning: Public Education and the Assault on American Democracy, will be keynote speakers. Every SLA attendee will receive a copy of Dr. Black's book.
Breakout sessions are designed to build a framework of competency in the areas of leadership development, relationship building, effective communications, and membership growth and engagement. Valuable sessions on working with special school populations, improving classroom safety, and focusing on one’s personal well-being will be included. For the first time, a session designed just for education support professionals will be offered. Certificates of attendance will be provided upon the completion of all session evaluations.
There is no limit on the number of participants a local may have. Participation is open to all association officers, representatives, and members.
We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Summer Leadership Academy in Franklin.
