TEA Representative Assembly Rescheduled June 4-5, 2010
The TEA Representative Assembly scheduled for this weekend, May 7-8, 2010, has been rescheduled for June 4-5, 2010. Local affiliate presidents and delegates will be provided more detailed information by the end of next week, May 14, 2010.
The following considerations made this decision by TEA President, Earl Wiman and Executive Director, Al Mance necessary:
- One of the RA hotels, the Hilton Downtown, has temporarily closed because of flooding and power failure,
- The Renaissance Hotel, the primary RA hotel, cannot assure TEA that guests will have hot water this weekend,
- One of the two Nashville/Davidson County water treatment plants was overrun by flood waters and the other is endangered so that drinking water may be in short supply,
- Governor Bredesen has announced a shortage of safe water and asked Davidson County residents to conserve it until the crisis is over,
- A number of frequently traveled local streets are partially under water making travel around the city more difficult,
- The safety of a number of bridges and highways were compromised by water damage this past weekend causing us to be concerned about member safety in traveling to Nashville.
- We could reschedule the Representative Assembly without additional costs to local affiliates or TEA, and
- Additional rain is predicted for this weekend.
Activities and times will remain the same. The TEA Board of Directors will meet on Thursday, June 3, 2010. The Awards Luncheon will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 and the Representative Assembly will convene at 5:00 p.m. on June 4, 2010 at the Convention Center.
